Alistair Begg, pastor of Parkside Church in Ohio and helpful resource Truth for Life, taught a four part Dallas Theological Seminary chapel series going through Humility, Anxiety, Adversity, and Security. The 30 minute video message on humility takes us from being aware of self-love and self-glorification to be humbled before God through the Bible passage of 1 Peter 5:6, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” Pastor Begg highlights at the video length of 27:30 that "the scriptures [the Bible] are always, consistently bringing us to the end of ourselves in order that we find again and again our sufficiency in Christ." This is why Christ is known and described in the Bible as the beginning and the end, as we are to see and trust him as the whole of our life. Pastor Begg explains further, "Pride can keep us from salvation. Pride will keep us from usefulness. Pride will keep us from effectiveness." He ends, "Since God knows what's going on, we can trust him."
