We are starting our Sunday sermon series in Revelation, which is the Bible’s last book.
The book is full of historical controversies, interpretations, timelines, doctrines, and so on. We will work through the book contextually in order to profoundly understand the simplicity. Often the book of Revelation is used as a hopeful book when current times are bad, teaching people the end is always coming and near. The book also is used as a doctrinal marker of difference for denominations and churches. Others times Revelation is used as a warning of judgment for people to change their life (beliefs and behavior).
Some of that can be helpful or healthy but it also can be focused or distracted away from the main point of the book and God’s intention.
From the context, especially the beginning to end of the book, any reader can identity the most significant topic and theme. It is then woven throughout the book. One may get lost in the facts, analogies, and prophecies but the main point connects it all together.
What then is simply the main point of the book of Revelation?
Jesus.
